Masters Update

Winter Camp Karapiro
18 Aug

The first update from the TGA Masters…in a wee while.

For parents / caregivers of our new school rowers, or even existing school (or club) rowers we are a small bunch of Masters rowers (12) ranging between 27yrs to 70+, a mixture of lads n ladies, from four months experience to lots of years’ experience. From casual / occasional to very keen and enthusiastic. We are always keen to help introduce parents who are keen to have a crack and see “what the kids get up to”, however on a much more relaxed level (or serious if so inclined).

A few weeks ago the TGA masters joined a number of other club masters from the Waikato & BOP region for a social rowing camp based at Karapiro, hosted by the Cambridge Rowing Club. Around 40 or so rowers of varying ages, experience & ability turned up for a fantastic two days of rowing on near perfect water and conditions at Karapiro. It was absolutely fantastic to meet other rowers, share our stories and experience. There were options for all sorts, 8’s, quads, doubles, single and coastal. We kicked off on Saturday morning with a couple of rows to grow our appetite and developed a thirst for quenching at a local in Cambridge. A great meal, with great mates followed by watching our kiwis battle it out in the Olympic rowing heats.

Sunday was another awesome day, topped off with some social racing and a promise to do it all again in 12 months.

We’d love to introduce new rowers. If you're keen, reach out to the club, or meet us on Tuesday or Thursday at 5:20pm, or Sunday at 8am at the club house.

David.
